Five dollar bill with lipstickLet’s face it, beauty is expensive. And when you are cash strapped, it’s a struggle paying for all those supplies. Luckily, there are a variety of ways to save on cosmetics so that you can keep looking fabulous, even when your purse strings get tight.

Hair

  • Attend a salon training night Beauty school students are required to practice cutting others’ hair. Under the guidance of professional stylists, students give free haircuts to the general public during salon training nights. Salons such as Gene Juarez, Aveda, and Toni and Guy are a few places that offer discounted or free cuts. Contact your local beauty school to find out when the next salon training night is in your area.
  • Find the discounts Some stores that sell designer clothes, like Ross and Marshalls, also sell hair and makeup products at a big discount. Check out these locations to see if you can score some deals.

Makeup

  • Sally’s Beauty Supply is a popular discount salon beauty chain. Products sold in salons (e.g. straighteners, shampoo, frizz solution, makeup, salon supplies) are discounted at Sally’s. This is great for anyone who loves salon products, but hates the cost.
  • EyesLipsFace is an online beauty web site where every piece of makeup is five dollars or under.
  • Many pharmacies such as CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens routinely offer “2 for 1” deals on specific brands of makeup. You never know when these bargains will appear so, be sure to check back regularly.
  • Many makeup counters in malls offer free product samples. Your best bet is to call ahead to schedule an appointment at the store of your choosing. Who knows, you may pick up a tip or helpful suggestion along the way.
  • Save money maintaining your nails by painting and applying acrylic tips yourself.

Even when times are tough you can still look and feel beautiful!
